Replacing existing zinc roofs.

An existing zinc roof will need to be replaced when the roof structure is badly damaged as well as when badly corroded zinc sheeting occurred. Method

    • Strip the existing roof, for this to happen the property should be evacuated.
    • Place the new structure and fasten it properly.
    • Call the electrician in to rewire the property.
    • Attach the zinc sheeting with roof screws.
    • Waterproof all flashing and plumbers vents.
    • Paint with UV protective paint.

Before the property can be delivered it needs a thorough cleaning and all building rubble removed.

Repairing zinc roofs.

Older Zinc roofs tend to accumulate damage over time. It might not be necessary. Repairing of box gutters.

Box gutters are in use where the building has a flat roof(normally metal) with wall higher than the roof. A gutter, a box gutter, is placed behind the wall to accommodate water flow. There are two major problems on box gutters: the box gutter is too small or the water is not flowing away due to blockages and this causes corrosion which leads to leaks.

Delivery
Before delivery the working must be clean.

Waterproofing and regular maintenance on concrete roofs.

Concrete roofs absorb water like a sponge, therefore the surface needs to be waterproofed and regular maintenance is a necessity. It is found that rubber mats which are applied to concrete slabs do weather a lot and forms cracks which lets water penetrate. It’s recommended to have the waterproofing material checked and prevention measures put in place.

Method

Waterproofing and regular maintenance on concrete roofs are done in the following steps.
    • Remove old redundant waterproofing.
    • Cleaning with a high power hose.
    • Apply bonding liquid on the whole area.
    • Apply two layers of acrylic liquid.
    • A layer of Eco-plastic seals the concrete slab.
    • Painting with UV resistant paint.

Damp-proofing of balconies, sowers and cellars.

Before tiling, any balcony, shower and cellar, the correct waterproofing needs to be applied. If not done this will result in damp problems and costly repairs.

Method

Damp proofing of balconies are done in the following steps.
    • Remove old cracked and damaged waterproofing.
    • Cleaning the area with a high power hose.
    • Waterproof the balcony floor
    • Paint balcony floor
 Damp proofing of showers are done in the following steps.
    • Remove all tiles on the shower floor and the bottom row on the shower wall.
    • Dry and clean surface.
    • Damp-proof the whole area.
    • Tile the shower floor and portion of the wall again.
Damp proofing of cellars are done in the following steps.
    • Cleaning with a high power hose.
    • Dry floors and walls.
    • Fill all blemishes on the floor and walls.
    • Sand down the filled areas.
    • Waterproof floors and walls
    • Paint the area.

Damp-proofing and painting of internal and external walls.

There are different types of damp problems that may occur. For one, water that rises up in a wall from groundwater and then there is rainwater from the atmosphere. It’s important to identify the correct cause of the problem. Therefore preparation is the key secret to a successful and durable painted property.

Method

The damp-proofing and painting of interior and exterior walls are done in the following steps.
    • Scrape all loose and flaking paint from the walls.
    • Sand down the walls to smooth the area. Wire brushes can also be used.
    • Remove dust from all surfaces.
    • Fill cracks if needed.
    • Sand down to smooth the walls.
    • Damp-proof affected areas.
    • Finish the job by painting the walls.
